Google Glass photo message
Beginning at 9 a.m. Eastern, any U.S.-based adult with an extra $1,500 (plus tax) can purchase Google Glass.
Available spots in the Glass Explorer program are limited, and the sale ends today, so act fact.
Those who decide to take the plunge into the future with Google will be rewarded with more than a space-age-looking pair of spectacles. Later this week, the tech giant will push out its latest Glass update, with Android 4.4 KitKat and new photo features.
"You've been asking us when the next round of updates were coming," the Google Glass team wrote in a blog post. "We know it's been a little while, but this is a big one and we think it's well worth the wait."
The most notable change won't be one you can see: The latest version of the Glass software will run on Android KitKat, promising better battery life and reliability. Developers can also now write Glassware using the latest Android SDK, along with new features from the GDK.
News of the move from Android 4.0.3 to Ice Cream Sandwich broke early last month in a private Explorers forum, though Google did not confirm the change until today.
