A jury determined Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, that Love did not defame a San Diego attorney when she sent a 2010 tweet stating that the lawyer had been “bought off.” Attorneys for Rhonda Holmes had been seeking $8 million in damages but the jury rejected her case.

The notorious godmother of grunge and widow of Kurt Cobain even took the stand in her own defense on Wednesday, claiming she was a “computer retard” when she accidently tweeted out the incendiary comment to her thousands of Twitter followers.
"Now I know how to (direct message) perfectly," she said. "Then I didn't know how to (direct message) perfectly."

Holmes sued Love for $8 million in damages in the first Twitter libel - or "twibel" - case to go before a jury.
Love, 49, had hired Holmes in late 2008 to hunt down unidentified lawyers and accountants suspected of "looting" Cobain's estate.

Holmes claims she was fired because she asked Love to stay clean and sober for their planned litigation. In her lawsuit, Holmes said Love was "angry" and "retaliated" with the tweet because Holmes eventually moved on to other clients.
The "Doll Parts" singer appeared nervous on the stand Wednesday, her hands shaking as she poured a cup of water while wearing a demure, dark navy boucle dress, eyeglasses and lacey heels embellished with big bows.

Love wasn’t in court Friday when the verdict was read at the end of an eight-day trial.
